Over the years, education system in North eastern India has received a boost. A number of central and state universities have been set up in the hilly states.
Set up after implementation of Meghalaya State legislative Act, 2010- Mahatma Gandhi University is among the newer universities in the North east India. This is a major central university in the North east India which has got ‘B’ Grade from NAAC. Set up in 1987, after deployment of Tripura University Act it gave a major impetus to higher education quest of people in the state.
