Special Task Force (STF) sub-inspector Dipali Barua on charges of accepting bribe of Rs 4 lakh for freeing a person falsely implicated in a case.
The tainted police official is interrogated at the Garchuk police station. The arrest was made after Biren Haloi filed a case against the police officer and two others. Constable Ranjit Hazarika and Simanta Gogoi were also arrested along with Dipali Barua.
Haloi in his FIR alleged that the lady police officer had detained him alleging that anti-social activities were carried out at the former’s garage.
Subsequent to this, he was taken to the STF office in Bhangagarh and demanded a sum of Rs 10 lakh to free him. However, Haloi in his FIR stated that he had handed over Rs 4 lakh to the corrupt police official. The police official had produced fake documents citing to seal down Haloi’s garage.
Besides this, Dipali Barua is also involved in exchanging demonetized notes in exchange of a hefty commission. Constables Ranjit Hazarika and Simanta Gogoi is also involved for which a case in under trial at the CJM court.
