An 11-day-old baby boy was rescued from a childless couple by Child Line on Thursday night as he was reportedly sold to them.

The child is in a government short-stay home.  A woman reportedly sold her baby boy to the childless couple, whom she claimed to be her relative at Rangia Tilla, a village dominated by tribal in Khowai District as she was unable to bear expenses of her ailing husband.

Sources said that one of her relative proposed her to sell the baby which she had accepted.

Based on a news report, a team from Child Line, Agartala went to Rangia Tilla and rescued the child from them last night.

” We asked both the baby’s biological parents and adopted parents to produce documents to prove their verbal statement in the court. The case will be in hearing on next Wednesday,” a member of Child Line said.

According to police, the biological mother claimed that she had given her baby to them only to look after as she would be busy to take care of her husband who is admitted in the hospital.

No case has been reported in police station in this regard.
