Arunachal Pradesh has always been among those lesser travelled and explored regions of India. The lack of transport and connectivity options has played a role behind this. However, the beautiful mountain state has plenty to offer for various types of tourists. From its unique cuisine to the amazing biodiversity spots, the state has many means to keep visitors enthralled for days. Even the waterfalls in Arunachal Pradesh are quite amazing. They are absolutely breathtaking and offer great experience for nature lovers.
Below listed are two such picturesque waterfalls of Arunachal Pradesh, located in Tawang district:
- Nuranang Falls
This is also called the Bong Bong Falls. With a height of 100 meters it is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful waterfalls in North East India. The waterfalls is located a couple of kilometers away from Jung, on the road connecting Bomdila and Tawang. There is a small hydro electricity plant at the base of the waterfalls. The waterfall mixes with Tawang River. It flows like a multi tired cascade through the slopes of hills. There is a legend of the waterfalls being named after a Monpa girl Nura who aided an Indian soldier during the 1962 Sino-Indian War.
Not many tourists were about about this amazing waterfall until Director Rakesh Roshan shot his film ‘Koyla’, keeping the waterfall at the backdrop of a song. The film starring Bollywood actors Madhuri Dixit and Shah Rukh Khan was shot at Sangetser Lake and near the waterfall. After this, this waterfall became a popular tourist destination.
- Bap Teng Kang Waterfall
Also called the BTK Fountain/ waterfall, it is located about 82 kms from Tawang. It is about 100 ft high. The waterfall is located at Yumkhang. The place is serene and a lot of tourists spend time relaxing during the day and afternoon. The lush greenery around is soothing on the eyes and a delight for the shutterbugs! There are a few eateries in nearby regions of the waterfall.
