Itanagar is just 6 km from the beautiful and serene Ganga Lake which has turned into a major picnic spot. The natural lake is also called Gyakar Sinwi. The ferns and orchids around the lake make it a must visit destination for shutterbugs! You can also indulge in swimming in the lake or boating. You can reach the spot from Itanagar by road. The hilly backdrop and dense green surrounding looks stunning and mesmerizing.

The Polo Park is another thriving picnic spot in Arunachal Pradesh. Located in Naharlagun, it is thronged by both locals and tourists. It is actually a beautifully developed botanical garden. The vegetation in the garden is absolutely mind blowing and will keep you engrossed for long. The cane groves resembling palm amaze a lot of visitors in particular. Besides, there is a small zoo in this park where a few reptiles and animals are kept.

The small town of Bhalukpong located at the border of Arunachal Pradesh is preferred by tourists as weekend destination for having picnics and outing. The bank of beautiful Kameng River is where people go for having picnics. Apart from that, you may head to the place if trekking and hiking appeals to you. The river also has plenty of scopes for angling lovers. You may head to the town in March as the annual festival Nyethidow is celebrated during this time. It is reachable from Tezpur in Assam by road.

The beautiful and serene Ziro valley remains one of the popular tourist destinations in Arunachal Pradesh. The Pine Grove in the region is a popular picnic spot. You can reach the spot by roads from Tawang.

The PTTso Lake attracts a fair number of visitors owing to its awesome natural beauty and serenity all over the year. This has also emerged as a popular picnic spot over the years. The tranquil lake located at altitude of nearly 12,000 feet is only 20 km from Tawang and can be reached by road. The journey from Tawang takes less than an hour. In winter, the lake water becomes frozen and it is a sight literally. It is maintained nowadays by the Indian army. The path that leads to the natural lake is laden with rhododendron trees. Ideally, you should visit the like during summer months. Even in the summer months, the temperature does not reach extreme levels in the region.
