Assam Govt to Start 200 Skill Centres

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of ‘The India Show’ organised by ITFAA on Tuesday, Minister of Industry and Commerce Chandra Mohan Patowary said the government would soon be opening up 200 skill centres across the state to train 18,500 boys and girls.

He also said that the government would train at least 96,000 youths in the second and third phases.

Patowary informed that the government has already allotted 150 bighas of land in Mangaldoi for developing a skill city and is laying special stress on facilitating an investor-friendly atmosphere in the State.

Speaking as a guest of honour, adviser to the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya said the government should set up a skill university in the State to train the youths and make them employable.

ITFAA president Jatin Hazarika and Chief General Manager, NE, State Bank of India PVSLN Murty were also present on the occasion among others.
