Foodies in the city will now be able to taste Punjab’s rich cuisine without having to leave Guwahati. Kolkata-based Zing Restaurants Pvt Ltd recently launched the second outlet of Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba in Guwahati. Their first outlet is located in Delhi.

‘Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba is a modern take on traditional dhaba concept. We have meticulously designed every aspect of this restaurant to suit the needs of the urban crowd. We started our successful journey in Delhi and now we have come to give Guwahatians a taste of the dhaba culture. Dhabas were originally created as stopovers for travelers along the highways but now dhabas have become the destination. Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba is certainly the right mix of urban and desi as we offer desi dhaba food with an urban twist,’ said COO, Tapan Sinha.

Not only that, the dhaba will also serve Assamese dishes like maasor tenga, aloo pitika, baanhgajor logot kukura and other mouth-watering delicacies.

‘The menu has been curated in such a way that it will make foodies go bale-bale. Apart from focusing on serving authentic dishes, the presentation of food at Rang De Basanti Urban Dhaba is a speciality. To give you an example, the sawa footiya subz seekh is served on a scaled plate where you can actually count the length of the seekh. In this case, its 1.25 feet’ said Siddharth Joardar, Corporate Chef.

Apart from its food, the venue also gives you the feel of a roadside dhaba with a few urban elements thrown in. There are milestones, a thela (a cart serving fried mix vegetables with chapati) and then you can even dine on top of a life-size tractor with light shades that have been replaced by buckets.
