Milaap, India’s largest crowdfunding platform, today said it has seen an increase of almost four times in the number of fund-raiser set-ups from the State compared to the previous year and that nearly 95 per cent of the funds raised for causes from Assam is for medical needs and emergencies. Addressing a press meet here today, Anoj Viswanathan, President and Co-founder, Milaap, said, “The very objective of online fund-raising is to leverage technology to allow people to directly help another person in need. We have over 460 fund-raisers from the North-east overall. It is amazing how the digital space is bringing these communities closer, and helping people act on causes they care about.”
