Programmes undertaken by Assam Rifles

1. Medical Camps. The Assam Rifles have been organizing medical camps in areas where adequate health care facilities are not available to the villagers. Fifteen medical camps were conducted by various units of the force in the NE Region during the month of 15th January, 2015. About 6083 patients were treated and provided free medicines during the camps.

2. Veterinary Camps. Five veterinary camps in the border/ remote towns/villages of Changtongya, Noklak, Mekukla, Sitmi and Jalukie were conducted by various units of the force in Nagaland during the month of January, 2015. About 9108 animals belonging to the populace in these remote and inaccessible areas were treated during the camps.

3. Blood Donation Camps.

Five blood donation camps units of the Force during the month of January, 2015, are as under:-

(a) 26-Sector Assam Rifles  organized a  Pulse Polio Vaccination Camp at Nodal Hospital, Pallel, district Chandel and 40 Assam Rifles at Keithelmanbi, Lilong and Andro villages of Imphal West district, Manipur on 18th January, 2015 during which the medical team administered polio drops to children below 5 years of age. Another vaccination camp was organized by units of 28-Sector Assam Rifles at Sehlon, Joupi, Sajik Tampak and Kakching villages. A total of 685 children were administered with the life saving drops during the camps.

(b) 1-Assam Rifles conducted a Pulse Polio Immunization Camp at Khonsa, district Tirap, Arunachal Pradesh. About 72 children below 5 years of age were given polio drops during the camp.

(c) 42-Assam Rifles conducted a Pulse Polio Immunisation Camp at Jairampur on 18th January, 2015 at Unit Hospital. About 108 children were administered the vaccine in the unit hospital.

Medical camps organised by Assam Rifles were conducted by various units of the force in Manipur and Tripura during the month of January, 2015. Approximately 300 Assam Rifles personnel donated blood during the camps.

4. Pulse Polio Immunization Camps. The Assam Rifles has also been contributing in implementation of various immunization programs launched by the Government like Pulse Polio and Hepatitis B immunization programmes. The details of immunization camps conducted by various units of the Force during the month of January, 2015, are as under:-

5.  Awareness drives. The Assam Rifles conducted various awareness drives in the NE Region to address various local health issues like Malaria/AIDS, drug abuse and also to update the populace about various Government schemes and employment opportunities available, for the benefit of the locals.
