Assam: Four powerlifters win gold at Commonwealth Powerlifting & Benchpress Championship 2017

Four power lifters from the state of Assam- Mousumi Bora,Arannanee Gogoi, Minu Gogoi and Minati Dihingia have brought laurels to the state as well to the country by clinching gold medals in the Commonwealth Powerlifting and Benchpress Championship,2017.

The Championship is being held at  Potchefstroom in South Africa.

While Mosumi Bora hails from Morigaon district, the other three medal winners belong to Sivsagar district.They hold many records to their credit in the field of powerlifting at national and international events.

In a press statement, Assam Chief Minister have congratulated the powerlifters on their excellent feats and stated that their achievements had brought glory to the sporting arena of the nation and will inspire upcoming sports-persons to take up sports as a profession.The CM also hoped that the powerlifters will bring more accolades to the nation in the near future too.
