The place also has a rich heritage and you can find traces of the same in a few ancient ruins. The region is also haven for bird lovers and shutterbugs. In the forests, wildlife species like White-winged Wood Duck and pig tailed macaque can be seen. The Chhatachura Range- This mountain range is located at south eastern side of Karimganj. This hill region is serene and the natural beauty will keep you charmed.

Badarpur Fort – Set up during the Mughal era, Badarpur Fort is among the most important and historical citadels in Assam. Located on picturesque Barak River banks, the ruins of the fort bear testimony to the imperial past of the region. Spread over a large area, the fort has been restored several times since its capture by the British army. It can be reached from Karimganj town as well as Silchar by state transport buses and cars can be hired too. 

Son Beel- Known as the biggest wetland in Karimganj and south part of Assam, Son beel is a beautiful place to spend a relaxing weekend. Its size has diminished owing to improper handling over the years though. The area is encircled by vast stretches of hills. The Singhla river goes through the wetland and later it bifurcates into two smaller rivers- Kochua and Kakra.

Eolabari Tea Estate- While the majority of tea gardens of Assam are located in Jorhat and Dibrugarh, Karimganj has it share in form of Eolabari Tea Estate. It is located only 15 km away from the town. The lush greenery and serenity of the region is ideal to weekend after a busy week.

You would not face much hardship in reaching Karimganj from most parts of Assam, as it is. The rail and road transport is quite good. The Karimganj town has a station and it is linked with Tripura. The biggest junction in the district is Badarpur. Guwahati and Karimganj are connected by road and buses ply everyday between the two cities. The city is also connected through bus routes with major cities of North East India like Aizawl, Agartala and Shillong.
