18 players of U-19 Aizawl Football Club and no confirmed tickets. That is how the players of the soccer team from Aizawl made its 16-hour journey back from Kolkata after playing in a junior tournament in the city of joy.
The soccer players, after a tiring day of competition, boarded the train on Saturday only to realise that they had no confirmed tickets.
It was shocking to see such young, brimming footballers having to travel in such pathetic conditions.
From the pictures, one can easily deduce that they were tired and understandably so. They were in Goa for the Nike Premier Cup tournament.
Rahul Saha who uploaded the pictures on his Twitter handle said “They are Under 19 football players of Aizwal FC, travelling from kolkata to Joy like this, No reservation, how can indian football develop if we treat our future superstars like this, shame on Govt. & football fraternity of india.”
Aizawl FC from Aizawl from Mizoram was formed in 1984 and earned the entry in India’s top-tier league,
I-League in 2015-16 after winning 2015 I-League 2nd division.
