Facebook’s WhatsApp, over the years, has received multiple ways of replying to text messages. This includes voice notes, Gif support and the evergreen emojis. But soon it is likely to get another feature that one can use to reply – Stickers. The arrival of stickers on WhatsApp was somewhat expected, given that its parent company uses it not only in the main app but in Messenger as well.
As spotted by WABetainfo, the website that keeps a track on upcoming features on WhatsApp and FB Messenger, the work on Sticker reactions started with Android beta app version 2.18.120. The feature has been removed from the latest Android beta WhatsApp version – 2.18.189. There is no particular launch date mentioned for the feature.
Sticker reaction implementation in WhatsApp
WhatsApp will allow users to select a sticker reaction from a dedicated ‘Stickers View’. There will be a heart-shaped icon on top corner in the window, tapping on which will show you all the categories. It will also be showing the sticker packs that you have downloaded. Users will be able to download stickers from four different categories - LOL, Love, Sad and Wow.
Since the feature is in beta version, it is highly likely that it will be reaching end users as well.
Same beta version gets support for group video calling feature
WhatsApp couple of days ago rolled out group video calling support in the Android beta version 2.18.189. The feature was made official back at Facebook’s annual developers’ conference, Facebook F8 last month.
It is worth adding that to use the group video calling feature, they need to be a beta user. However, they can be a part of the call even if they are not a beta user.
During our testing, we were able to add a maximum of four participants as the icon of adding more users, which is placed in the top right corner, gets disabled after four users.
