District Child Protection Unit, Imphal East, Department of Social Welfare informed that a girl child namely, Baby Suhana, aged about 4 years was found abandoned at Hatta Golapati, Imphal East on March 13, allegedly by persons from the locality.
A release signed by protection officer (NIC), DCPU, Imphal East, Sushma Elangbam said the girl child is now in the custody of Specialised Adoption Agency, Imphal East, Bal Bhawan Complex, Khuman Lampak under the Department of Social Welfare as per the Order of Child Welfare Committee Imphal East.
According to the girl, she came to the area with her father and he had told her to wait for him in the exact place, but never returned. She has told DCPU that her father’s name is Juma Khan, her mother’s name is Sumita and she has an elder sister whose name is Rahima, and she further told that she had been staying in a Madrasam, which she could not specify its location, for almost one year, the release informed.
Any person/ persons who can provide the identity of the said child can come to claim her from the office of SSA Imphal East by bringing relevant documents of proof to support their identity and their relationship with the child, the release stated. Porompat Police Station has registered a GD entry bearing case number 20/PRT PS/2018 dated April 13, it added.
