Two labourers suspected to be kidnapped by some armed militants for ransom have been rescued and one of the alleged kidnappers arrested, officials said on Wednesday.
Police said that the labourers identified as Nausawm Lian of Lingsiphai village and Khupginlal of Tuilileibul village of Churachandpur district were kidnapped some armed militants on March 26 last for a ransom of Rs. 20 lakh.

The two were rescued during a search operation in Saikul area, Kangpokpi district by the combined team of Imphal police and Assam Rifles on Wednesday’s early hours, following the arrest of one the kidnappers, officials said.
Imphal east SP K Meghachandra stated that the labourers were left behind by the kidnappers who fled from their hideout.
The operation was launched based on a disclosure made by a cadre of Kuki National Front (KNF)-MC faction, police said.
