The matter was earlier listed for hearing in the Supreme Court on Monday.
When contacted, Health and Family Welfare department secretary, Himalaya Shangpliang informed that the matter could not be taken up for hearing today.
“The hearing on the matter has been deferred to September 15,” Shangpliang informed.
Earlier, the Meghalaya Government had also prayed for inclusion of Medical Council of India (MCI) as a party in the matter.
It may be mentioned that 4 seats each for Meghalaya students were allotted each year in Guwahati medical college and Hospital, Assam Medical College and Hospital besides 2 seats in Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
It may be recalled that Health and Family Welfare Minister, Roshan Warjri had informed that Meghalaya Government pays 10 lakh for each student of Meghalaya who undergo medical studies in the institutions.
“The whole problem cropped up because no communication was received from Assam Government regarding their new rule,” she told reporters.
