In yet another road accident in the city, two people sustained injuries when an auto rickshaw they were travelling in, was hit by a truck that came from the opposite direction near the CRPF camp at Jingkieng Mawlai on Tuesday at around 12.30 am.
According to sources from 108, an auto rickshaw that was heading towards Mawlai was hit head on by a speeding tata truck that was coming from the opposite direction.
It was informed that this truck was coming from Guwahati and it was driven at a very high speed. On reaching Jingkieng Mawlai the driver lost control of the vehicle and went to the wrong side of the road and hit an auto rickshaw that was coming from the opposite direction.
The injured persons — Shanbor Thabah (30) and his friend Donborlang Shabong (35) managed to escape severe injuries after they jumped off the auto before it was hit by this truck and both of them sustained minor injuries.
It may be mentioned that one woman was killed and three others injured after a vehicle (Versa) rammed into a roadside shop near Rhino Museum in Umshyrpi, Shillong on Tuesday morning.
The Lawmali based 108 ambulnace helped in shifting both the victims to Shillong Civil Hospital.
