Over the years, Kohima has evolved into a little foodie paradise with the emergence of more cafes that are uplifting and creatively done. And it’s not just the assortment of niceties that sets these eateries apart, but essentially the coffee (or pick a beverage of your choice) and of course the delicious food that go into making them some of the favourite hangout places in Kohima.

Café Planet Earth: ‘The happiest place on earth’, as its slogan reads, Café Planet Earth is indeed a happy place to be! It is located in the heart of Kohima Town near Jasokie Place in Razhü Point and offers the best in Chinese food apart from an assortment of tea and beverages, and almost exclusive to the café are items like ice cream sundaes, parfaits and other special icy treats – all very popular among customers. It is also the only place in Kohima to provide, on order, personalised edible Photo Cakes of various flavours for birthdays, anniversaries and such. The café, which is air-conditioned, has a unique floor arrangement which in itself is an added attraction. If you’re looking for a place to beat the summer heat or just to cool off with some delicious treats this is the place to be.

Pagebreak Café: Pagebreak Café, adjoining CROSSWORD Bookstore is the ideal stop especially for booklovers. With spectacular pieces on display, the ambience of the café gives you a contemporary feel. Tiny details add to the whole decor, and the little "Selfie Props" corner makes this one a favourite. Catch up on your reading or with a friend, this place will cater to every mood. It serves the most heavenly goodies like pastries, tarts, cupcakes, muffins, cookies and freshly brewed coffee from Cafe Coffee Day! The cafe also has a Kid's Play Area for kids to be lost in their own world and hence making it a must visit place for families." It is located at South-X Complex, Porterlane Kohima.

Dream Café: ‘Dream Café, where good things happen’ is located below UCO bank, opposite to TCP Gate Kohima and is one of the young people’s favourite hangout places. The place has been host to numerous events including launches of debut albums, books, art exhibitions, musical evenings, promotions of bands, etc, fulfilling the many dreams of young Naga people. Dream Café is one of the few places in Kohima that serves mock-tails and pizzas apart from other regular beverages and food.

Ozone Café: Ideally placed in the heart of the town, Ozone Café serves great coffee and is one of the few places in Kohima that will fetch you the best momos (especially fried momos). The place where the café stands now was earlier Quasqui Centennial Plaza in Razhu Point. Easily accessible and another young people’s favourite, Ozone Café is also where PowerComm’s Friday Live takes place every third Friday of the month to bring life to Kohima town.

Orami: ‘Orami, my kind of place’, offers you an exotic menu, exclusively designed to satiate a food lover’s adventure and appetite. The delectable dishes run across some of the most loved food in Nagaland. And it’s not just the special food, but Orami has the perfect ambience for people, both young and old, local and foreign, to experience a taste of Nagaland through well designed artifacts and appealing interiors, which are all handiworks of the owner- Asi Kera himself. It is located near NSF Martyrs’ Park.

Gusto: Gusto has been a lot of people’s favourite ever since it opened, and is particularly known for its specials like Shabalay, Thenthuk and Momos among others. The Gusto restaurant, which is located at Officers’ Hill, opposite Indoor Stadium, also has its ‘Gusto Takeaway’ branch at AMK Ki, behind Congress Bhavan. Gusto serves Chinese and Tibetan food.

Big Bite: Big Bite is a popular hangout place for young people and is located in Jail Colony, which is one of the most happening locations in Kohima. The cozy little place serves a variety of food and beverages and is especially known for serving excellent coffee.

Burrrp Café: One will find this fast food café along the New Secretariat Road, and is a popular joint for office goers. Burrrp Café, which is owned by two young entrepreneurs, is aimed at providing hygienic food for healthy living. Burrrp also provides ‘delivery on order’ and takeaway services and delights in full customers’ satisfaction. Needless to say, the food here is great!
