A 45-year-old Andhra Pradesh farmer, Chenchu Reddy of Banda Kindi Palle village has put up two huge posters of former adult film actress and current Bollywood celeb Sunny Leone in a red bikini to protect his large field of vegetable crop in Nellore district.
Hindustan reported even though 45-year-old A Chenchu Reddy of Banda Kindi Palle village is not a fan of Sunny but her poster is keeping his crop safe from the “evil eye” of fellow villagers as all the attention is being grabbed by the poster.
“This year, I have a good crop on 10 acres. This has been attracting unnecessary attention of villagers and passersby. To ward off their evil eye, I thought of this idea of putting up the big flax poster of Sunny Leone a couple of days ago,” he said.
The strategy is apparently working for him. “The trick has worked. Nobody is looking at my crop now,” he further adds.
The farm, where he grows cabbage, cauliflower, chillies, is located in Bandakindipally village.
Commonly, farmers use straw-filled scarecrows with an upside down clay pitcher for scaring birds away from fields or put ugly, fearsome dolls — called “bommalu” in Telugu — to block the evil eye. But the poster of a popular actor is a first, perhaps.
