A few decades ago, it would have been hard to imagine a Naga making his/her presence known in the corporate world. Especially not when the more popular trend was to come back home and settle for a government job, even if it meant they went outside the state in pursuit of education.
Nagas of today have proved otherwise by working their way up the ladder and now can pride in holding senior positions in different companies across the globe. Here are some of them (in random order) who have thought different, broken the barriers and changed the dynamics of employment.
Kevilekhono Naleo, Senior Manager Network Development at Qikwell Technologies is in a senior management team, or also called as the strategy and decision making board consisting of senior scientists from yahoo, and IBM venture capitalist. She works with the latest health care technology partnering with top hospitals, doctors and clinics in India. Previously, she was also part of a multinational, multibillion, multidisciplinary Industry known as the Institute of Clinical Research, India where she headed the International market and her role as a Senior Manager, Global Business Development was to get collaborations, joint ventures, tie-ups from market outside India especially USA and Europe and to contact those companies who wish to outsource their businesses to India.

Wati Longchar is a Senior Consultant and currently works out of the Parsippany office in New Jersey, USA. She first joined the management consulting firm as an associate in 2007 and was with the Knowledge Management (KM) Team for 5 years- the period she would term as her on-the-job MBA in terms of learning and understanding how businesses work. After KM, she joined her current team which is the risk advisory innovation team. As a team they a) manage and process for developing new solutions or delivery models for clients, d) actively scan the market for new trends for potential business opportunity b) govern and manage the portfolio of new services and pipelines, and c) foster a culture of innovation through ideation events, trainings, and other mediums within the risk advisory practice of the firm.
Khiwamo Kath is currently the Relationship Manager (Public Relations) of Aamby Valley in Mumbai. He was once employed as a government servant but quit his job and started afresh as a trainee at Aamby Valley, where he worked his way up and has had several promotions since. Khiwamo Kath was also instrumental in bringing the Porsche Road Show to India, the first ever that happened in the country.

Salome Taka is Associate Director at South East Asia’s largest PR Firm. She rose to her position from a humble beginning as a fresher but in less than 2 years, she managed a team and further headed a department in less than 4 years. Remarkably, she has also had 6 promotions over the last decade. She has also worked for Brands like Mercedes Benz, Google, Manchester United, Airtel, Ebay, AXN India, Atletico Madrid, Nokia, AHM – India’s 2nd largest Marathon to name a few.

Kevi Mor is currently Business Development Manager at Vectra Geospatial. He started his career as a HOA (Hotel operations associate) at Golden Palms hotel and Spa Bangalore in 2003. After 9 years in the hotel industry at various positions in various cities (Food and Beverage manager as last position), he made a major career change when he joined as a Business Development manager very recently in a software company, since June 2013.
Dielo Wetsah started his career as a site contact specialist in August 2005 in Accenture Pharma Department, Bangalore, following which he worked as Study Designer in the same organization in Chennai. After six years of experience, he moved to a pharmaceutical industry where he worked as Technical Analyst for a couple of years. He currently serves as Technical Designer with Quintiles, a contract research organization, which he joined in July 2014.

Sungjemrenla Longkumer was recruited by Mu Sigma as part of campus recruitment drive while she was pursuing her third year in Computer Science and Engineering Course. She joined the company as a Business Analyst in the year 2009 and now plays the role of an Engagement Manager in New Jersey, USA. Mu Sigma is one of the world’s largest Decision Sciences and analytics firms, that helps companies institutionalize data-driven decision making and harness Big Data.
Aboli Chishi started her career as a marketing executive at the Edusys Global, Bangalore in 2011. Prior to that, she worked at Brandingcomm, Seoul, after she finished her masters in International Development from Korea University. In February 2012, she joined Qoo10, Singapore, a joint venture company formed with eBay, as a marketing executive and currently serves as a Marketing Manager. Qoo10, which provides a powerful online marketplace that allows its buyers to enjoy highly secure and convenient shopping experience, currently operates in 5 countries and plans to expand into more Asian countries in the near future.
