Whether it’s jumping in the puddle, playing in the rain or splashing water in the tub, children are just drawn to water. It seems quite impossible to keep them away from it. So why not let them have a big splash this summer with some of these fun filled water activities?

Fun with Ice
Playing with ice, especially coloured ones, is a fun activity that would keep your toddler interested for hours. To make it even more interesting you can have differently shaped colourful ice cubes or freeze some small toys in water and let your kid do all the work of digging it out for the small prize.
Water balloon games

If you have a few balloons handy at home, then you have hit the jackpot. Kids love both balloons and water, so why not combine these two and let them have some serious fun? Fill up balloons with water and hang them up on a clothesline or anywhere within your toddlers reach and give them a blunt edged stick to prick and poke. It will keep them busy for a long time. For variety you can try different water balloon games like relay race, basket ball with water filled balloons and balloon hunt.
Sensory water play

From birth onwards a child learns about its world by touching, tasting, smelling, seeing and hearing. Sensory play helps them discover and differentiate things and also a great way to keep them entertained. Set up a sensory bin based on different themes like the ocean world, life in a pond or the little mermaid. If you run out of ideas then just toss in some small sized plastic or rubber toys, flowers, leaves or just sticks in a tub filled with water and watch your child have fun exploring the contents.
Sprinkler in the backyard

This is one of the most easy DIY that can keep your whole family occupied for a good number of hours. Just take an old plastic bottle and poke it with a knife at different places, fill it with water and go sprinkling. If you have a gardening hose then the fun quotient just doubles up.
Playing with water is a great way to experience the nature and work on developing some gross motor skills. Water play is one of the most simple, fun and inexpensive ways to keep your kids occupied for hours, learn and laugh. Always remember to keep an eye on your child while they are playing with the water as it can lead to unnecessary unfortunate events.
