The state of Nagaland along with other parts of Northeast India including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and the Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura region had been recording good rains for quite some time now. In fact, weather activity had remained rainy over the state for the past few days. As far as the last 24 hours are concerned, rains made an appearance over the state during this time as well.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, North Lakhimpur saw 29 mm of rains, Pasighat witnessed 24 mm of rainfall, Dibrugarh 16 mm, Rangia 7 mm, Guwahati 8 mm, Cherrapunji 9 mm, and Agartala 8 mm.

These rains can be attributed to the presence of a Western Disturbance which is moving across the Tibet region. Along with this, an induced cyclonic circulation is also persisting over North Bangladesh and adjoining Assam region.

Thus, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rainfall activity is expected to continue over the Northeastern states during the next 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, rains will witness a reduction over the region. Due to this, temperatures will continue to settle on the lower side as rains will keep them under check.
