Rainfall triggers landslides in West Sikkim

The overnight rainfall triggered landslides at various places under Daramdin BAC. A team comprising of SDM (Soreng), BDO(Daramdin), Line Department officials and concerned Panchayats inspected the landslide areas. The affected families were immediately shifted to a safer location.

As reported by the BDO, 3 houses were swept away along with several livestocks. Further many electricity polls along these affected areas are damaged along with roads at several points in the surrounding areas.

Sokpay gaon, Karki Dara and Towkey Gaon are the villages badly affected from where 97 families members have been shifted to relief camps which are identified at Dodok and Buriakhop Government Schools.
